The Importance of Worldview in Witness and Storying
One of the most important aspects for witness is that of our spiritual
worldview. It is our basic understanding of our spiritual being and our relation
to whatever affects or controls our purpose for living, the very course of our
lives and our eternal destination. That includes our knowledge and attitude
toward God and Jesus. It affects our openness and closedness to any change. Satisfied people are not likely to change unless
something happens or information comes to destabilize their beliefs and outlook.
Hurting people are looking for change to their circumstances and for hope that
they can find it.
Scripture Passage to Told Story
An overview of the steps in taking a literate Scripture passage and developing
it into an oral narrative to be told; some options for sharing or crafting a
Bible story for telling and what is gained or lost.
ORALIZING Bible Stories for Telling
Many Bible stories are ready to tell as is. But for increased clarity in telling
as an oral story some crafting or shaping of the stories is usually helpful.
These changes can also be beneficial when telling the stories through an
interpreter so that the interpreter as well as the listeners can easily follow
the storyline without being confused by details they do not understand or
dialogue that is not clear about who is speaking to whom.
FAST-TRACKING Bible Stories
The concept of fast-tracking Bible stories grew out of opportunities to tell the
Redemption Story or the story of Jesus quickly without pausing for comment or
explanation. This meant going from story to story with minimal bridging to
connect the stories. It has proved to be especially helpful in probing for
interest to hear the stories in greater detail and to have opportunity to talk
about the stories.
